Taste of the Harbor

Exchange Club Golf Tournament
The Exchange Club of Scotts Valley will hold its 19th Annual Golf Tournament & Fundraiser at Valley Gardens Golf Course, 263 Mt. Hermon Rd., Scotts Valley. This fun event is a fundraiser for local charity needs. It begins with a light breakfast starter, nine holes of golf and ends with a delicious barbecue, prizes and raffle items. Farm & Garden Fall Plant Sale
Fall is a wonderful time to plant vegetable crops that will extend your gardening season and give perennials a head start for spring. A wide variety of the region's best-suited organically grown winter vegetables and perennial landscape plants will be available Sept. 10 from noon to 6 p.m. and Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UCSC's Barn Theater Parking Lot at the corner of Bay and High streets. Capitola Art and Wine Festival
The Capitola Art & Wine Festival runs Sept. 11 & 12 and combines art, wine, music and food in Capitola Village. More than 150 artists and 20 wineries are participating in this year's festival. Entertainment includes Extra Large playing on the Esplanade Stage from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, with The Refugees - A Tribute to Tom Petty & the Hearbreakers taking the stage that evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Also, don't miss street performers The Great Morgani and Jetlag the Clown. Sunday's performances are by Turn the Page (the premier tribute to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band), the Te Hau Nui Polynesian Dance Company, and Santa Cruz Pipes & Drums. Ohlone Day
Celebrate the 25th Annual Ohlone Day on Sept. 11 with the Amah KaTura Dancers, who perform in regalia resembling the style, color and materials that were used by Ohlone Indians. The group will perform dances that tell stories about the Myth of Creation and the Eagle and the Coyote, and will sing songs in the Rumsien Ohlone language of the Carmel area. The day's events include native basketry, games, tools, tule crafts, spear throwing, fire making, hot-rock cooking, history, language, use of native plants and more. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, Highway 9, Felton. Free, with a $10 parking fee per car.
