Vandalism
A Honda Civic was vandalized at Seascape Resort. The front and rear passenger-side tires were slashed, and "locals only" was etched onto the hood of the car.

Residential Burglary
Someone entered a home and stole two flat screen TVs.

Commercial Burglary
Sometime after 6 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 a.m. the next morning someone entered a local coffee shop and stole approximately $1500 in cash from the safe. A rear window appeared to be the point of entry, and it is possible that the safe was left open. The incident is under investigation.

Residential Burglary
An unknown person entered a home and stole $100 cash and a pair of diamond stud earrings worth approximately $400.

Battery
A man was attacked and beaten unconscious by four unknown suspects. He was transported to the hospital by friends, and claimed to not remember anything about the incident. The individuals who accompanied the victim to the hospital could not provide details to the event. Witnesses later reported that there had been some words exchanged leading to the fight, possibly gang related.

Battery
Two women along with several others were in a car together after watching fireworks at the beach. Both women were in the backseat, with another individual between them. The women began fighting, first verbally, then physically. One of the women was punched and kicked in the face multiple times, causing swelling, redness, and a cut on the chin. The assailant Jessica Armstrong, 23 of Seaside, was cited for battery and released.

Battery
A man was at a party when he was knocked unconscious, lost a tooth, and his jaw was broken. Upon first being contacted by deputies he claimed that he had fallen down a hill, but later admitted that he had become involved in a verbal argument over a friend. He claimed that after going outside to further the confrontation he remembers nothing between being hit, and then regaining consciousness in his friend's car. The assailant remains unidentified, but is described as a six-foot white male.

Vandalism
Someone shot paint balls at Happy Valley Conference Center. This has been occurring on a weekly basis, and there is an ongoing investigation.

Residential Burglary
A resident came home to find his laptop was missing from the table where he left it and the rear sliding door ajar. After further investigation he discovered two loaded handguns were missing as well. The burglary is under investigation.

Vandalism
A rock was thrown through the rear window of a residence.

Auto Burglary
An individual coming up from the beach came upon a Hispanic male burglarizing a vehicle. The suspect then jumped into the passenger seat of a waiting green Toyota or Honda 4-door and was driven away by what appeared to be a Hispanic female. A third party was also seen in the back seat. The items stolen from the vehicle include a Samsung cell phone valued at $120, an Alpine stereo valued at $250, and amp and subwoofer valued at $600, various clothing valued at $200, and 12 CDs valued at $100.

Misuse of 9-1-1
An intoxicated Aptos woman called 9-1-1 repeatedly to complain about her ex-husband living on the same property as her. Dispatchers warned the woman, identified as 50-year-old Carolyn K. Oliver, not to call 9-1-1 unless there is an emergency. A sheriff's deputy went to the caller's home to assess the situation and determined that there was indeed no emergency, and Oliver was arrested for misuse of the 9-1-1 system with likelihood to continue. Several days earlier on July 4 another Aptos woman, Mary E. Tausheck, 53, was arrested for misuse of the 9-1-1 system and public intoxication after she repeatedly called 9-1-1 when there was no emergency.

Weapon
Sheriff's deputies noticed a suspicious looking individual walking on 30th Avenue. After contacting him they noticed he was fidgeting with something in his pocket. Deputies identified the individual as Tyler E. Evenson, 18 of Santa Cruz, who was on probation. He had a knife with a fixed blade and told the deputy that he was fidgeting with it in an attempt to throw it into the bushes before being discovered, according to Sgt. Dan Campos. Evenson was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon, and transported to jail.

Someone entered a residence and stole over $900 worth of electronics including an X-Box 360, a laptop, and an Apple stereo.
Felton

Auto Burglary
Unknown suspects pried open the front passenger window of a Felton resident's car and took items including a leather saddle valued at $1,000, a $300 bridle, a silver Nikon camera ($400), and a $125 pair of Bucci sunglasses.

Theft
A local man fell asleep on a bench in front of the County's Emeline complex and awoke to find his bicycle had been stolen. The approximate value of the bike is $200.

Burglary
A resident came home and found his front door unlocked. He noticed his laptop was missing from where he had left it, and then saw that the sliding window he had left slightly open in the rear of the house was fully open. It appears that whoever stole the laptop entered through the open window, took the laptop, and exited through the front door.
