Central Fire Names Jeff Maxwell New Chief
By Linda Fridy
Jeff Maxell will take over as chief of the Central Fire Protection District with a badge-pinning ceremony Mar. 22 and will start work the next day, replacing retiring Chief Bruce Clark.

Maxwell brings experience in five Bay Area counties to his new position. He began his career as a volunteer with the Zayante Fire District, where he has been Fire Chief for several years. He worked in Pacifica, Milpitas and most recently Orinda-Moraga as a battalion chief and chief of operations.

The Felton resident is clearly delighted to be selected.

"It's an exceptional organization with a very strong foundation of service and community support," he said, praising the district's combination of local connection and technical expertise. "It's truly a phenomenal opportunity."

His time with Zayante allowed him to get to know some Central Fire personnel and the district's reputation.

"I've spent a long time working beside Central Fire and have always admired the professional and ethical culture," he said.
